RULES

Rules are subject to change

DRAMA

RP drama is inevitable. However, this doesn't mean disputes can't be handled civilly between players. If players are unable to end a dispute between themselves, they should contact the moderator via PM in the mod journal or at ravenswoodrpg@yahoo.com.

Individuals that start OOC drama will only be given one warning before being dismissed from the game on the second offense. The same is true of those who are found to be participating in and/or encouraging drama. There will be no exceptions - OOC drama will not be tolerated here.

OOC/MARY SUES/GODMODDING

Players need to be sure they have a firm idea of their character's personality before applying. Likewise, players should make sure they're staying in character.

Godmodding is strictly prohibited. Everyone has the right to play their character as they see accordingly. They have the right to dress/talk/act how they see fit. You have control over your characters, not your fellow writer's characters. Harassing, blackmailing, manipulating, threatening, etc. is also not tolerated and will be grounds for immediate removal.

SPELLING/GRAMMAR

Both spelling and grammar are important, so looking over your post before hitting submit never hurts. If you use Firefox, there should be an inline spellchecker already installed on your browser. With this, your browser will point out misspelled words as you type, à la Microsoft Word. This should successfully prevent a majority of spelling issues.

CHARACTER LIMIT

There is a limit to how many characters you can have in the game. Everyone is allowed five (5) characters. However, the point of RP is to interactive with a lot of different writers. This can't be accomplished if a single writer owns a lot of the characters in the game. Variety is key so if you do bring in more characters, try to make each of them different and unique.

If you bring an additional character in, we ask that you keep them in for at least two weeks to get a feel for the game. If by then you'd like to remove them, then by all means remove them (and use the remove all button at the member's center we made, pretty please!).

ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS

Being continually active is key! The rules for remaining active are twofold:

1- You must update at least once every 4 weeks. A substantial journal entry and/or a thread/aim scene is plausible. Threads and aim scenes should have at least 3-4 replies per participant to qualify towards activity. If for any reason you cannot update your journal or post a scene within the 4 weeks, please inform the mods via PM or through the Drop Box.

2- While a post of a scene, thread or substantial journal entry counts toward staying in the game, being active in other ways such as interacting with others count as well. Commenting journal entries and forum posts on a fairly consistent basis help to show to others that you're active and interested in playing and staying in the game. Popping up with the prescribed thread, scene or journal entry right before removals but have no activity anywhere else prior to the post is not acceptable and you will be removed for not meeting activity requirements.

Please note that any updates on your character's Twitter account do not count toward activity.

Characters that are removed 3 times for inactivity will be ineligible to reapply.

HIATUSES

Hiatuses are allowed for up to two weeks. A hiatus lasting for more than two weeks (as well as constant hiatuses) could result in your dismissal from the game. However, this will be dealt with case-by-case (constantly being busy with school is a lot different than not having access to a computer for a certain length of time). If a player needs additional time, some exceptions may be made so please either PM or leave a message in the drop box if you need additional time.

If a player is on hiatus, that means no updating, replying to threads or posts, etc., while on hiatus. If a player posts or replies while on said hiatus, it makes said hiatus null and void and the player is now once again on active status.

PBS

Your chosen PB should be suitable to the age of your character. Please don't pick a 40 year old PB and make their age in their 20's, that is just unrealistic. Straying up to 5 years from the PB's age is fine but beyond that, we will ask you to change the age. Also, there should be a suitable amount of clear icons for your character. Try here for a complete list of icon makers and tips for uploading multiple icons quickly or transferring icons to a new account.

PLOT

Plots should be created with the pervasive storyline in mind and the RPG should not be used solely for any one purpose (shipping, for example).Make sure you clear a storyline with the other person. For instance, do not get your character pregnant unless both parties are in agreement. Anything that happens within your storyline should be discussed before played out.

IC drama is perfectly fine- it can make for some wonderful and entertaining writing. However, once it crosses the line into OOC antics that's when it loses it's fun for everyone. Before you launch into a plot that you know will be drama filled IC think the plot through before you act on it. Turning tail OOC because you can't handle the fallout of things IC is a no no. No character is perfect, they are bound to make mistakes and it makes for great character development to see how they handle things when they mess up. If you cannot handle the consequences of the actions of what your character does, then do not start IC drama.

You must inform the mods about events that will effect the game as a whole, for instance, parties, pregnancies, marriages and so forth. This will help us avoid having 372687362 instances of the same event at the same time. Pregnancies will last nine months, three months for each trimester.

JOURNALS

When posting in the communities, please make sure that all posts are friends only! This is not hard to do and it keeps non-members from being able to comment or view chats/logs/etc. And make sure that when you are posting entries/threads/logs to spell check!

Be descriptive. Try to create story lines with other characters, either through commenting, Threads, or AIM. Try to go on AIM whenever you can and talk to other people. Try to join threads whenever you can and talk to other people. Be creative while active. Don't write one liners for journals and be descriptive on aim and in threads.

Entries posted in journals are viewable to everyone in the game unless stated otherwise.

All pictures ( besides friend-only graphics ) are to be put under a cut-tag! Quiz's, polls, and tests are not allowed unless under cut-tag. Videos also need to be put under a cut-tag!

Strike-outs represent text that has been scribbled out and is unreadable to anyone. If you want to have private conversations, simply mark them as "private to______"
